Get Ready for the Biggest Trunk or Treat in Lawrence

Heartland Community Health Center and Panda Pediatrics are partnering once again to bring Lawrence the biggest Trunk or Treat in town. The event will take place on Saturday, October 18 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Heartland Community Health Center. It is free and open to the public, offering a family-friendly afternoon filled with candy, costumes, and community connection.

This year’s event will feature creative trunks, music, raffles, games, and giveaways for all ages.

Early Fun Before Halloween Weekend

Scheduled earlier in the month, this year’s Trunk or Treat gives families the opportunity to enjoy the fun of Halloween without competing events or busy holiday weekend schedules. It is a chance to celebrate the season in a relaxed, community-centered setting.

Special Guests and Sweet Surprises

Kansas McDonald’s will participate with the Hamburglar and free treats for kids. UnitedHealthcare is contributing pallets of candy to ensure every child leaves with something sweet.

Local businesses and community partners hosting trunks include:

  • UnitedHealthcare

  • Truity Credit Union

  • Sunflower Bank

  • Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center

  • Douglas County CASA, Inc.

  • Anchor Church

  • Lawrence Kansas Police Department

  • Douglas County Emergency Dispatch

  • Panda Pediatrics

Health Meets Halloween

In addition to festive fun, this year’s Trunk or Treat will also focus on community health. The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department will have its Mobile Unit on site, providing flu vaccines for all ages. Staff from Heartland and Panda Pediatrics will share information about affordable healthcare resources available to individuals and families throughout Douglas County.

A Celebration for Everyone

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Heartland’s mission is to make quality healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. This event helps bring that mission to life by providing a safe, welcoming space where families can connect, have fun, and stay healthy.

The Trunk or Treat is free to attend and open to all community members.
