Kansas Half Marathon Grows with New Fun Run

For the first time ever, the Kansas Half Marathon & 5K will include a free Kids Fun Run, giving children the chance to join the excitement of race day in downtown Lawrence.

Presented by Lawrence Gymnastics Academy and Panda Pediatrics, the Kansas Kids Fun Run invites children to wear their Halloween costumes one more time and take part in a fun, family-friendly event that supports a great cause. The fun run starts at 9am at the South Park Playground. No advance registration is needed; kids can simply show up, run, and receive their very own official Kansas Kids Fun Run medal at the finish line.

The Kansas Half Marathon & 5K, presented by LMH Health, will take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, welcoming runners and walkers of all fitness levels and abilities. Participants can choose from the half marathon or 5K course, both winding through some of Lawrence’s most scenic and iconic areas.

All proceeds from the event benefit Heartland Community Health Center, helping ensure everyone in the community has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare regardless of income or insurance status.

This year’s event will also feature a new food truck lineup, bringing local flavor to the finish line festival. Runners and spectators can enjoy favorites from Taco Fuego KC, Camper La Chula, and Torched Goodness, with menu options like biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, and mini pancakes. Runners age 21 and older will also receive free beer from Lawrence Beer Company as part of their post-race celebration.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group, including men’s, women’s, and non-binary categories, with special recognition for overall winners and masters runners.

All finishers in the half marathon and 5K will earn a high-quality medal, and participants can look forward to professional race photos, live results, and a festive atmosphere that makes this one of Lawrence’s signature fall events.
