Car Seat Safety
Each year, thousands of young children are killed or injured in car crashes. Proper use of car seats helps keep children safe, but with so many different seats on the market, many parents find this overwhelming.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has a free calculator which easily determines by age, height, and weight what car seat is right for your child.
GET AN INSPECTION
They offer 4 free car seat inspection stations a month; two during the weekday morning, one during the evening and one on Saturday morning. They also will offer financial assistance for car seats if you qualify.
Drive through, no appointment needed inspections on the first Saturday, every-other month.
Car seat inspections are usually held on the first Saturday of the month at the Eudora Fire Station, these are by appointment only.

Keep them Safe from COVID-19
The CDC now recommends that all children ages 6 months and older receive a COVID-19 vaccine. With the school year and flu season upon us, now is the time to make sure your child is vaccinated for COVID-19.
Even though some children experience only mild symptoms from a COVID-19 infection, there are also children who become very ill and die. Unvaccinated children, even when they have no symptoms, can still infect people around them. Communities are safest when children are vaccinated.
CDC recommends everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, including all primary series doses and boosters for their age group. People ages 6 months through 4 years should get all COVID-19 primary series doses. People ages 5 years and older should get all primary series doses, and the booster dose recommended for them by CDC, if eligible.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, data from clinical trials showed that a booster shot increased the immune response in trial participants who finished a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna primary series 6 months earlier or who received a J&J/Janssen single-dose vaccine 2 months earlier.
With an increased immune response, people should have improved protection against getting infected with COVID-19. For Pfizer-BioNTech and J&J/Janssen, clinical trials also showed that a booster shot helped prevent severe disease.
